Rest In Peace

It is a sad day for my family. My favorite uncle passed away yesterday morning. He was my dad's brother. We were much closed to him . My dad passed away in 1983 and he was like a father to us. I still remember seeing him in October 2006 when Carlos and I went home. He cried when he saw us. I think he kind of knew that it will be the last time we see each other. When my sister told me that he was sick last week and pray really hard that he will pull through and I will get to see him again when I go home early next year. I guess this was not the case. God loves him more. May your soul rest in peace, Uncle. We love you and we'll miss you.

He was always there,
Smile on his face.
And though time passes,
No one can take his place.

Always on our minds,,
Forever in our hearts.
Memories to cherish,,
And we'll always remember him.

Visit to Ronkonkoma, Long Island

My friend Lesley and fellow blogger invites me to her house on Memorial Day weekend. I really enjoyed myself there. She taught me the proper way of making sushi and I learned a lot from her. Can't wait to get some fresh tuna and make some for Carlos and Diana. She also taught me a lot about blogging and computer. We talk about anything to everything until the wee hours in the morning.

Thank you Lesley for making me feel so welcome to your beatiful home. I had a wonderful time with you and Mishu/Kayla. She is so cute especially when she speaks Mandarin :)

Here are some pictures I took while I was there.

Lesley teaching me the proper way of rolling up the sushi

Look at all the wonderful sushi she made. It taste even better than the one from the Japanese Restaurant here.

Mishu enjoying her sushi.
Look at how cute and pretty she looks and she is ever ready for my camera :) I just adored her.

Tag : 8 Facts/Habits

I was tagged by Beachlover with 8 facts/habits Meme. Here are the rules:

1. Each player starts with 8 random facts/habits about themselves.

2. People who are tagged, write a blog post about their own 8 random things, and post these rules.

3. At the end of your post you need to tag 8 people and include their names.

4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment on their blog and tell them they’ve been tagged, and to come back and read your blog for the whole story.

Here it goes :

1. I am terrified of worms. I become immobile with fear and it would take a long time for me to snap out of it.

2. I love eating my French fries with mayo mix with ketchup.

3. I love watching reality TV and crime solving series shows like Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, Amazing Race, CSI, Criminal Mind and Cold Case.

4. I have problem with East, West, North and South when comes to driving directions.

5. I am afraid of heights and I wish I have the nerve to go for Bungee jumping or sky diving.

6. I drink only water and hardly any sugary drinks.

7. I wakes up around 6.00am everyday even on weekends. There is just something about those peaceful morning hours, and catching the sunrise over Milo or coffee, that starts my day off very nicely.

8. Dirty stove drives me crazy. I will be wiping it constantly while cooking and one day my sweater even caught fire. Thank god Diana was there if not I think I will have a 3rd degree burn on me.

I am not tagging anyone but feel free to do it if you want to.

Garage Sale

Weather is getting much warmer and you can see everyone is having garage sale or yard sale. I like going to this kind of sale once a while hoping to find some nice English cups and saucers to add to my collections.

Some of the clothing
Our homeowners association organized a neighborhood garage sale last week and we decided to participate to get rid some of our junks accumulated for the past two years. We don’t have many big ticket items as we had a huge garage sale in California just before moving here. We sold about 40% of our unwanted stuff and the rest was donated it to the Salvation Army.

So last week I was busy getting ready for the sale and managed to clear up most of Diana’s and my things. As for Carlos he was holding to dear life most of his stuff and tools. This man just can’t let go of his things :)

The gloomy weather
The sale started at 8.00am but it was a bad day for the garage sale. The sky was gloomy, cold and drizzling. A few elderly people came and these people are looking for specific things like antique, furniture, jewelry. No one is interested in my books, handbags, shoes, clothing etc. By 10.00am the drizzling was getting heavier so we just packed up everything and load it up in the car trunk and took everything to the Goodwill. We only managed to sell some of my bake goods, a handbags and a suitcase. Total sale was around $23.00. What a waste of time. No more garage sale for us here but it was a good experience for Diana since it was her first garage sale.
