No Mood for CNY

Chinese New Year is just around the corner and I always get depressed during this time of the year. I am not in the mood to do anything. To make it wrost Diana is not here and my sisters won’t be coming. They plan to go to Japan in April to visit Diana so they decided to come here only around autumn.

It will be my 8th year away from home. I really feel lonely as there is lack of festive mood here compared to Malaysia. Back in those years I will be busy baking cookies, we sisters will be busy making kueh kapit, kueh rose (beehives), shopping for new clothes, cleaning up the house and planning what to cook for our reunion dinner.

I promised a few friends 'Bak Kwa' so I better get my butt up and do something.

Anyone can tell me how I can cheer myself up? Oh well, I guess I will be making a lot of phone call home to Malaysia.

Gert,
We are all in the same boat. My last CNY was 12 yrs ago. Its ok lah.... we have our hubbys who loves us so worth the sacrifice.

Why dont' u have a CNY party with some fellow Msians in PA? You know if I live there I'll come charging to your house.

Gert, you have been bitten by this cold, muggy and horrible weather bug. Don't worry honey, I'll cheer you up for your CNY. I can call you all day long if you like to until my phone battery went dead. I can go to your house and we should have fun baking or shopping. Or perhaps just eat out, try some restaurant somewhere. Be strong my dear. I know you miss Diana very much. She will be back before you know it. Time do flies.

Gert ... same here. I talked to my mom yesterday and we decided that I will cook whatever she is cooking, so that we are celebrating apart but in sync! I hope she is not thinking "difficult" dishes!

So good of Zue to come over to spend the days with you. I think that is awesome and you girls will have a ball!

At the same time, how about blasting some tung-tung-chiang CNY songs all day long? Play them real loud so that your neighbours will call the cops and those handsome trio will come round! Haha ...

PJ, susahkan kita ni tingal jauh jauh from family. Apa boleh buat. Kita kahwin orang sini :)

JOAT, if you are coming i will have the party :) :) Yeah, I am really lucky to have Carlos and it is worth the sacrifice.

SAHM, I will start making some goodies this to keep myself busy :)

Zue, I am so glad you're back. Boleh talk to you everyday. Thanks for being such a good friend. CNY ni you kena kerja :) Yeah, we should plan something for CNY.

Cat, you pun sama jugak ya!! At least you went home last year. I dah 8 tahun tak celebrate CNY kat M'sia :( Mari, kita sama sama nangis :( :(

Beachlover, you are so lucky to be home for CNY. Is a working day for Carlos so I don't think we will go to PA Chinatown. Can't wait to see all the festive pictures :) Have a wonderful time back home.

Rita, I don't have 'tung tung chiang' CNY CD lah ha haa...great idea though. I have to arrange something with Zue. We wanted to make the 'beehives' cookies together :)

Gert ... no need to own the CDs. Just go to one of the many live radio or music websites, tons of tunes to choose from. Is beehive cookies the ones that use similar batter to love letters? They are addictive to eat!
