My Handyman

My husband Carlos is rolling his eyes at me again when I said I wanted to write to HGTV so they can send me the handsome handyman Carter Oosterhouse to finish up his projects. This guy is hot and he has a new show called 'Carter Can'. Do check his show out.

Actually I should not complaint too much because Carlos can be really handy if he wants too :) He paint, he repairs, he built, he fixed leaks and he even came to my rescue when I see worms eating my tomato plants. As for me I am never handy with anything not even changing a light bulb. When I was living on my own I will just give a call to my brother office and he will send a guy over to fix everything.

Just look is these windows. These is the windows that attract me to this house when we first walk in. Then after moving in for a week I found out that the windows create a lot of heat and is not good at all during the day. We can't even sit at our living room to watch TV so finally we decided to cover it up with blinds. We have to rent a 20 foot ladder from Home Depot just to fix it. It served us well for over a year and just look at it now. It need fixing again :( :(

He made this little table for Diana's apartment.
Sweetie, we have to go to your "Toy Store' Home Depot this weekend to buy some new blinds and rent a ladder again. By the way, when can I have my new bed??

Tagged!!!! (Again)

I was tagged by Pinky and she wanted to know my breakfast habit!!!

Well, I wake up really early on weekdays around 6.00am. After preparing Carlos breakfast and lunch I will have a cup of oatmeal. No fancy breakfast for me. I will have my brunch only around 11.30am and it can be some leftovers or cook something Malaysian like some of the food you saw in my other blog.

If I am in Malaysia I will definitely have Chee Cheong Fun or wontan mee for breakfast and on weekends it will be dim sum with the family.

Handbags Obsession

I love handbags of all kinds. I am sure most of us ladies can never have too many handbags. With so many trendy style it’s no wonder many of us have develop some kind of obsession with this fabulous accessory. One of them is me. I think my obsession start when the company I work with in the 80’s became the sole distributor for Charles Jourdan handbags and watches. I am able to buy it at a very cheap price and I have to have a handbag for all occasion.

My hubby fail to understand why I need so many handbags and he think we women spend too much money on it. I remember when he first met my sisters and we went Macy to shop for handbags he freaks out. He can’t understand why my sisters would pay over $500.00 for a handbag. I told him we paid for the design and name.

Handbags can be very practical. I have handbags for work, shopping, travel, dinner, clubbing and other occasion. I have to admit I spent a pretty good amount of money on handbags during my working days but not so much now. I still have boxes and boxes of it at my mom’s house. Maybe I should bring it here on my next trip home and sell it on EBay. A good handbag will last you a long time. I still have my Charles Jourdon and still in perfect conditions.

The good thing about handbags is that you don’t need to make any decisions until its time to go out and you will never have a bad bag day. You can have a bad hair day, a fat day or even a sad day but you can never go wrong with the perfect bag and we can never have too many of it. Don’t you agree with me? Here are the handbags I used regularly.

For travelling where I can dump everything in it
This is for shopping just to put my keys and purse
This is for short trip to Philly or New York - I can put my glasses, camera, fan, book and purse
The wristlets for my trip to supermarket just for cash and c.card.

Night out or special occasion

Fall Is Finally Here!!!

After a crazy warm Summer I really look forward to fall. Is finally here. What is the sign :

I took long hot shower
I didn't sweat when I blow my hair
The A/C in the house were turned off
Wonderful breeze in the air
Colors of fall everywhere
I am wearing long sleeves and jeans
I sleep with my clothes on
My mood change
My bones start aching :(
I drive around without having a long sleeve shirt over my arms
Holiday and clearance sale
Beautiful colors of leaves on the trees
The leaves are falling
My tomato plants start getting yellow

I just love fall. I love the holidays, the pumpkins, the apples, the red and yellow leaves. Has fall arrived at your place yet? What are your favourite things about fall?

Housework

Does anyone of you like doing housework? For me I just hate it. I remember reading on the BBC news about women who exercise by doing housework can reduce the risk of breast cancer. I wonder how true that is. I guess is a form of physical exercise, and exercise is always good for us.

For years, in Malaysia, I had a maid to pick up after me. I didn’t even need to make my bed. I used to wake up in the morning, shower, get dress and I’d be out to work, and when I’d come home my apartment will be spotless, clothes ironed, bed made and sometimes my maid, Siti, even made soup for me in the slow cookers. I guess I was spoiled in many ways. Since moving here, I have to do everything myself. I remember once when I called home the first thing my mom asked me was, you know how to make your bed. Years ago all bed sheets come in a flat sheet and not those fitted kind like now, so I’ve always had problem putting it on and she knew that.

I've learned a lot since coming here to the US. No maid for me and I have to do everything myself. I think I am pretty good now. I clean and iron the best I can but I am not as good as Carlos. When he cleans he really cleans. He does it from top to bottom on his hand and knees. I wish he’d do that more often.

Sometimes I do wish I have a maid here, mainly to clean up after my cooking and baking mess. Too bad we can't afford it because maids are expensive here. You have to be really rich to afford one. Now I have to get back to my kitchen to clean after making my Baked Shell Pasta.

Welcome

Dear family and friends. Welcome to my other blog. After much pondering I decided to create another blog. This blog will be all about things that happen in my life or bits and pieces of everything beside cooking and baking. I might throw in one or two baking tips every once in a while because it will still be my main passion, so I can't escape from that.

To my hubby, I will be spending more time in front of my computer. Hopefully later I am able to earn some money out of this :-)
